'Rimini Blu' dish by Aldo Londi for Bitossi

CHF 75.00

A lovely small ceramic dish from the 'Rimini Blu' series, created by master Italian ceramicist Aldo Londi (1911-2003) for Bitossi, Italy.

This dish is a piece of art, made by hand by talented craftspeople, and in good vintage condition. This 'Rimini Blu' piece has the signature rich, glossy blue-green glaze with specks of course clay grit, said to be inspired by the Adriatic sea, and a pattern of abstract geometric imprints, which Londi created using small tools he collected in his pocket from his everyday life.

The 'Rimini Blu' series is highly collectable and remains popular today, so much so that Bitossi began reissuing certain Londi designs in 2001. The vintage Londi pieces, however, in contrast to the reissues, were made by hand rather than using moulds, and so have greater character and a genuinely handmade feel. As always, vintage trumps.

This charming piece measures 18 cm in diameter and 4.5 cm tall. It is in good vintage condition, with some small chips to the glaze here and there that do not affect its beauty, and is marked 'Italy' on the base
