CHF 155.00

A two-piece set from Gustavsberg's 'Birka' series, comprising a small creamer and a coffeepot. Stig Lindberg (1916-1982), one of Sweden's most influential designers and ceramicists, created the 'Birka' series for Gustavsberg in 1973.

The beautiful simplicity and functionality of the series was influenced by the environmental movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The creamy white porcelain with its tiny brown freckles and a grey-blue hand-painted rim were inspired by the bark of the birch tree.

This series was manufactured until 1995, and was Gustavberg's most popular pattern. The clean lines and subtle texture in this series embodies timeless Swedish design at its finest, and ensure its seamless integration into a contemporary space. This set is the perfect accompaniment to your 'fika' (coffee break in Swedish).

Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition; the creamer has a small, superficial chip in the base, which is only visible when the creamer is turned upside down.

The creamer measures 11 cm tall, and the coffeepot is 21 cm tall has a volume of 1.2 litres. Both pieces bear the Gustavsberg backstamp 'S555'.
