Designed by Anja Jaatinen-Winquist (1934-), the 'Karelia' stoneware series was produced by Arabia Finland between 1970 and 1986. It is named after a province of Finland that was divided between Finland and Russia following the Winter War of 1939-1940.

The precise colour of the hand-painted brown stripes varies slightly between pieces due to melting during the firing process, meaning each piece is unique.

The maker's stamp on these particular pieces indicates that they were manufactured between 1975 and 1981, except for the creamer, which was manufactured between 1971 and 1975.

This set is in excellent vintage condition; one cup has a superficial indentation/chip in the base.

The tea cups have a capacity of 220ml, the creamer 200ml, and the saucers measure 15.5 cm in diameter.

If you would like to purchase this set along with another Arabia Finland 'Karelia' set, please let me know so I can offer you a a concession on the total price.
