Set of three 'Festivo' glass candlesticks by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala

CHF 90.00

A set of three textured clear glass candlesticks from the 'Festivo' series, designed by Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) for Iittala in 1966. Sarpaneva is one of Finland's most prominent industrial designers, and was a master in many fields, including not only glass, but also textiles and graphics.

The texture and shape of these high quality candlesticks mimic ice, and were created by mouth blowing molten glass into a mould. The original 'Festivo' series, of which there are eight different sizes, is highly collectible, and was produced until 1989. Iittala has since released a modified and more limited version of the series.

This set comprises two candlesticks with one central ring, and one candlestick with two central rings. They are certain to bring a touch of timeless Finnish elegance to your space, and, when lit up, make it lovely and 'mukava' (that's 'cosy' in Finnish).

All three pieces are signed TS, which lends me to believe that they come from the earlier production years, as it is rarer to find a signed 'Festivo' piece.

This set is in excellent vintage condition. The smaller candlesticks stand 8.25 cm tall, and the taller 12 cm.
